What is Xeomin®?

Xeomin is an FDA-approved drug made from a toxin derived from the bacteria that causes botulism. At Advanced Restorative Dentistry, Dr. Nishime uses Xeomin, a neurotoxin almost identical to Botox to temporarily block nerves or paralyze specific muscles in the treatment area.

Xeomin can be used for treating adults with cervical dystonia or blepharospasm, but it also removes:

  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Facial wrinkles
  • Crow’s feet
  • Frown lines

For cosmetic purposes, it’s typically injected directly into specific areas of the face to soften lines and eliminate wrinkles for months at a time. Xeomin offers noticeable results without experiencing the negative impact of plastic surgery.

How does Xeomin work?

Xeomin works by temporarily paralyzing muscles just under the surface of the skin. By paralyzing them, your muscles are no longer able to contract and cause lines and wrinkles in the process.

Dr. Nishime has helped many men and women reach incredible outcomes through Xeomin, whether it’s in cases of aesthetic goals or general health.

Is Xeomin painful?

Before injecting the botulinum toxin into your skin, Dr. Nishime cleans your face and applies a topical cream or ice to numb the area. Because Xeomin comes in the form of an injection, you might feel a slight pinch when the needle pierces through the skin.

After the injection is done, Dr. Nishime places a cold compress on the treatment site to help minimize the chances of bruising and swelling after the procedure.

Though Xeomin is not painful in itself, it’s essential that you limit vigorous activity immediately after the procedure to prevent the Xeomin from traveling to different parts of the body.

How long does it take to see results?

Although Xeomin injections take only a few moments to administer and require little to no downtown, it might take a week to start seeing results.

Within a week of the procedure, you’ll notice that frown lines will soften, and the skin around your eyes will relax. This can come in handy during a full mouth reconstruction procedure.

You can expect these results to last up to three or six months. Dr. Nishime recommends that you come back in several times in a year to further your progress.

Xeomin injections can genuinely compliment a cosmetic dental procedure or give you the confidence you need to pursue your goals. Call or go online today to learn more about Xeomin treatments at Advanced Restorative Dentistry.
